CATS & DOGS FOUNDATION

The CATS & DOGS FOUNDATION was created for the purpose of protecting and promoting health, safety and welfare of animals throughout Southern California.

CATS & DOGS FOUNDATION is unique in that it will establish a full service non- profit veterinary hospital to be located in downtown Los Angeles. The Foundation would not only service neglected, abused and abandoned animals brought in by private individuals, police agencies and various rescue agencies but will also provide a sanctuary for animals after they have been treated and rehabilitated. Unlike, the shelters that are funded and operated by the city and county, the CATS and DOGS FOUNDATION will ensure each animal with a long and healthy life. Animals that remain in shelters are euthanized if they are not adopted during a specified length of time. CATS and DOGS FOUNDATION believes that these animals deserve to live regardless of their adoptability.

CATS and DOGS FOUNDATION also understands that these animals can be further used for pet therapy for seniors, abused children, children at risk, children with disabilities and military veterans that suffer from debilitating injuries and post traumatic stress. Experience has shown that animals can provide the emotional lift of love for the population that is often forgotten. Additionally, pet therapy has been used in prisons where hardcore felons have changed their outlook and become more caring individuals even while incarcerated.

CATS and DOGS FOUNDATION also believes that a more organic treatment is best served while treating many animal illnesses. The hospital will stress homeopathic and holistic treatment whenever possible.

CATS and DOG FOUNDATION also believes that public awareness of the plight of these animals is important so that abandonment and abuse can be minimized through educating the public about the usefulness of these animals as well as their mistreatment in most of the current shelters. The shelters certainly serve a purpose but their goals are mainly to get the animals off the streets and take no measures to give them a long and healthy life, we believe this philosophy should be brought to the public attention more than it has in the past.

CATS and DOGS FOUNDATION has contacted veterinarians and vet technicians who are interested in working at the hospital. The FOUNDATION has also spoken to veterinarians who specialize in homeopathic and holistic medicine who would become part of the staff and provide their expertise in these methods.

CATS and DOGS FOUNDATION will have a 24hour urgent care service and a pet ambulance service to serve the pet community of Los Angeles.

CATS and DOGS FOUNDATION believes that donors and contributors should be recognized.  We believe that the goodness of these donors should be made aware to the public. We have secured the services of the PR firm to prepare press releases that will update the public on the progress of the FOUNDATION and hospital and also acknowledge the efforts of the larger donors. These press releases will also be used to edify the public on matters concerning the well being of animals.

CATS and DOGS FOUNDATION has located the ideal building for their hospital. It is located in Boyle Heights but is near downtown so that he can service the downtown community, which is developing at a rapid growth rate and creating a large market for such a hospital due to the increasing number of pet owners. The building was chosen because of its proximity to downtown but valued at Boyle Heights real estate prices. Real estate comparables and demographics for downtown are included in this presentation. We believe that the discounted purchase price of the building also makes it a wise investment. The zoning allows for a pet hospital and the architectural firm has been retained to design the improvements, which should allow the building to be LEED certified. The firm designed the North Central animal shelter and specializes in animal hospitals and LEED certification. CATS and DOGS FOUNDATION is seeking a major donor so that the facility can bear the name of that donor which will also provide the donor with positive press coverage.

CATS and DOGS FOUNDATION has also located land in Acton that is zoned for animal sanctuaries and plans to incorporate the sanctuary with the hospital so no animal will ever be euthanized.  A conservative estimate of euthanized pets in the United States each year is 10 million pets.  The conservative estimated cost to tax payers for animal shelters to euthanize homeless pets and pay for the removal of the bodies is $6,785,000,000 year.  Just a reminder….. this is tax payer money.

CATS and DOGS FOUNDATION will apply for all available grants but needs the support of donors to realize the dreams of these animals leading a long and healthy life. The income from the hospital will allow the FOUNDATION to continue to thrive and remain an important and valuable asset to the City of Los Angeles and particularly the downtown area. The Staples Center and LA Live have created a buzz and fueled the resurgence of Downtown. When national television covers the Lakers and Clippers they are now showing scenes of Downtown rather than only the beach and Beverly Hills. We plan to promote the hospital so that it is recognized as a valuable asset to Los Angeles and hopefully some positive coverage to important donors who deserve accolades for their caring and support.
