Will You Miss Me When I'm Gone

Will You Miss Me When I'm Gone?

Will you miss me when I'm gone?
Will you miss my little songs?
Hoping someone will not forget,
To make up for your tiny regret.

That you did not seize the chance,
When I stood so close at hand,
I was willing to share my heart,
At your everyday questioning start.

That I awoke and came to sit,
By your side and sing a bit,
With the voices I hear within,
To share your pain, your hope, your sin.

Perhaps someone will cut and paste,
Your second chance to walk away.
To give you all of what was not mine,
Wisdom whispered from endless time.

For one someday will soon enough come,
When you shall hear no more my beating drum,
And only a lasting silence shall sing,
Where you stood once listening.

My soul shall no more share humble pride,
When I am gone to stand at God's side,
Content that I gave to you openly,
Of His guidance, His grace, His harmony.

Will you have a bit of me to hold?
When you too have grown wise and old,
Will you have a book or a signed poem,
A little token of my timeless soul?

Will it be infinite joy or lasting emptiness,
Will it be fading memory or a familiar caress?
Will you remember the joy of our song,
Will you remember me when I am gone?
