Hef and Playboy's 
50th Anniversary

Hugh Hefner, who recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of Playboy magazine at The Palms, as usual had a bevy of beautiful ladies in attendance. The 78-year old entrepreneur seemed to be in good spirits. Media director Bill Farley said, "There is never a dull moment working with this organization." There will be activities throughout the United States celebrating Playboy's 50th anniversary.


LaBelle Talks about James Brown 
Diva Patti LaBelle enjoyed being a guest at CMX's after-fight party at Crustacean Restaurant/Prana Lounge. The star spoke to me about James Brown being acknowledged by Michael Jackson at the Soul Train Awards TV Special. "Mr. Brown had no idea that Michael Jackson was going to acknowledge him on the TV special, it was a complete surprise," LaBelle said. She admitted to me that there is nobody who can duplicate James Brown. He is without question, the Godfather of Soul.

 

 

A Bob Hope Anecdote
In a remembrance mode, we were looking at one of those classic pictures from a few years ago when we posed with Bob Hope and friends. One of the topics at hand was his golf game, and at the same time his passion to continue the USO tours. It was definitely a burning desire that kept Hope in the forefront of what he was doing for our troops. Hope also was a good businessman. His biggest investments were in real estate throughout California. In the final days, his drive was to reach his 100th birthday, which he achieved. On that day President Bush established the Bob Hope American. Patriot Award for civilians showing extraordinary love of their country.
