Mix and match

from High end to Target it’s all OK!!!!

So winter is here and what should I wear?  Well this winter it’s back to basics.

With all the horrible things that happened in the world today, many top designers want to go back to basics and have fun with their new collection with simple styles and soft colors.

Looser, bigger jackets and pants! It's cool to wear hats and they can also be bigger than life.

I love to mix and match. You can go to Nordstrom, buy a cool warm wool jacket from there and head to Target and get a sweater that matches in style and color. Also if you have a little time to spare at Target, look around, sometimes they can have really cool pants and shirts for every occasion and very inexpensive, especially for women. I have even found in the fall/winter collection at the Gap some really great, hip sweaters for both men and women and those colorful scarves that are really hot this season!!!

If you want the perfect boots for the season: Ladies - Nordstrom is the place to shop. Their selection is impressive and the best of the season. From elegant boots to casual foot wear so many great styles to choose from.

But don't be afraid to take your time, and don't let the sales people talk you into something that is fashionable but doesn't fit you.

Fashion is what you look great in, not what a celebrity is spotted wearing! If it doesn't fit, DON’T buy it. It will only look ridiculous on you.

Have fun!!!

CLOTHES THAT DON’T FIT:

Shoulder seams need to fit on the shoulders. Jackets need to close. Trousers should be a half-inch off the floor.

If pants fit perfectly in the hips, but not the waist — take them to a tailor, it is worth the effort.

Women expect to walk into a store to find a suit that fits off the rack. It rarely ever fits in all places. However a man will buy a suit and it’ll be checked in “10 different places.”

MINISKIRTS OVER 35:

Let the 20-year-olds have their fun. “When you’re 40 and trying to look 20, it looks sad. Part of the beauty of getting older is that you have a certain self-confidence and self-respect, and if you portray that in the way you dress, it’s really powerful. Trying to chase every fad reeks of insecurity.”

TOO MUCH FABRIC:

“A lot of women over a certain age put on extra weight in their tummy. They tend to drape themselves in a lot of fabric and hope it’ll make them look thinner or at least hide the extra pounds. However, with big and oversized clothing you only make yourself look heavier.”

PJs IN THE PRODUCE SECTION:

“Don’t wear your pajama bottoms to the supermarket.” “You don’t go to work in torn jeans and you don’t show your bellybutton at work.” Dress accordingly for the situation.

CUFFED TROUSERS:

They make legs look shorter. So do chunky shoes and pants that grip the ankle. Tapered shoes and dark, straight-leg pants make legs look longer.

HIP-HUGGING SKIRTS:

A-line skirt is more flattering to most body types. It stretches in length and makes you look slimmer.
