Bolivian Light Show
From
the highest point on the Isla del Sol, a small island that is said to be the
birthplace of the first Inca Kings that descended from heaven, we sit together
holding hands while perched together on a smooth rock that offers an amazing
360 degree vista. It is as if we are the only two people in the world at that
precious moment. We are watching the sky seemingly melt right into the clear
waters of Lake Titicaca. The other
islands on the lake cast dark shadows of all different shapes out onto the
water that constantly shift and change as the sky continues its brilliant light
show. The pale blue patches mix with
bright orange clouds to paint a masterpiece across the vast Bolivian sky.

Then
the water turns pink as the rays from the setting sun sparkle off the smooth,
mirror- like surface of the lake. Each passing second offers something new and
incredible from the sky above and water below. We lose track of where the
horizon is in this mosaic of beauty.

The
wind has stopped completely, and it is perfectly still as the darkness of night
finally overtakes the remaining light of day, while we sit together all alone
at the top of the world.
