In our day’s teenager are no longer as active as teenager 10 or 20 years ago. Kids of all ages are spending most of their time in front of the computer or television. Most physical activities are limited to either walking from the school bus to school or from the car to the mall and sporting activities at school are no longer than 1 hour on average. The average time spent playing video games per day is an incredible 4 hours. Fun outside activities or daily trips to the gym, aren't a popular pastime any longer for teens. So the Nemours Foundation offers these ideas for fun and different ways for teens to get exercise:

Go for a walk with friends Ride a bike, or take the dog for a walk. Clean your room  Mow the lawn with a push mower, or wash the car. Play video games that force you to move around. Turn on the music, close the door, and dance in your room to your favorite songs. Try a new sport or a new type of exercise -- and get a friend to try it with you. Take your I-pod and just start walking around the block A minimum of 10,000 steps per day is required to maintain a healthy weight. Keeping off the pounds when you are younger will serve you well when you get older.
