It is a very unique time in the Entertainment Industry with the Hollywood writer’s strike on going.  The Strike has affected our favorite television shows, late night shows, and Award Shows.  During this Award Show season, we have already seen the derailment of the Golden Globes.  Recently however, the BET Honors awards show went on as scheduled without any glitches during the strike period.  The Honors were held on January 12 in Washington, DC at the Warner Theater.

BET Honors recognize African Americans who have achieved great success in the fields of Public Service, Human Rights, Philanthropy, Entertainment, Media, and Business.  The list of honorees includes Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Dr. Cornel West, Janice Bryant Howroyd, Alicia Keys, Tyra Banks, and Richard Dick Parsons.

The honorees were saluted by the likes of Danny Glover, Blair Underwood, Vivica A. Fox, Hill Harper, Idris Elba, and Kerry Washington.  The honorees were also given musical tributes by the likes of Stevie Wonders, Gladys Knight, John Legend, Brian McKnight, Jill Scott, and Neyo.  BET Honors was hosted by Cedric “The Entertainer.”

BET CEO, Debra Lee, put together a great show and brought some of the biggest names in the Industry together for this great event.  Washington DC Mayor Adrian Fenty welcomed the Awards Show to the DC area, corporate headquarters for BET.  The Honors will air on BET on February 22 at 8pm eastern.  To find out more information about BET Honors, visit www.bet.com.
