Dear Readers:

January passed and so has the Super Bowl! We are all back by now to our regular routines and we are in the middle of our daily activities again and now we are wondering how many of the wonderful goals and promises we made at the start of 2008 have really been executed, started, created or developed. Are we really working on or just plain following that diet and workout plan?
The first 4 weeks are always hyped with energy and determination to succeed in our goals, but once that time has passed, more than likely we are falling back into our old tracks. Why can’t we stick to long term goals we set and with the workout schedule or the diet plan we started with so much energy and determination? Are we setting our hopes too high and want to see results too fast or is it just plain laziness or lack of will power?
Do we fall short on long term determination on making the necessary life changes? Oh yes, it is so much easier to come home, fall on the couch and push the workout off till tomorrow with the excuse “it was a long day at work, I am exhausted and tired” or “the weather is really bad and too cold”. Whatever the excuse is………our strong mind leaves us when it comes to our own personal goals. But boy do we have expert advice for everybody else, we know what to do and how to do it, but somehow we can’t do it for ourselves.
Why and how is now the question, but in the end we control ourselves and as long as we can set another goal for next year and start another diet or workout plan for another time, we are still on the right track to make changes and differences in our life.
We have to learn to love and accept ourselves first, before we set so many goals that we may never achieve anyway.
Stick with the little successes and be happy and move on from there. See you next month!
