Global Warming

By Lesly Federci

Over the past year my interest in global warming has grown considerably. In fact, I dedicate one of my Mini Notes Weekly newsletters to the topic. I educate my my members about the very small, yet powerful changes we can make starting in our own homes to care for our planet.  The bottom line is-if we don't start now, today, who knows what shape our world will be in, in years to come. And those of us who have young children, grandchildren (and potential grandchildren), what will the environment be like for them as adults?

This is nothing new now. You've heard about Al Gore's presentations, and global warming has become a household word. Yet, we need to take action now starting in our own homes. First we need to conserve energy, plant trees to offset what we as a world are destroying. We need to change the products we use to non-toxic ones, reduce the tons of garbage we accumulate that's dumped in landfills daily, recycle more, drink less bottled water, and reuse what we can. If we start at home, it can have a tremendous impact as a neighborhood, a community, a town, city, and so on. I'll be honest, I haven't done all of this, yet I am working towards it. After all it's changing a behavior and a mindset: Laying the "throw away" generation to rest and being proactive as to what I can do to contribute to cleaning-up the planet. I have made changes. I replaced my home cleaning products with non-toxic ones, replaced all the light bulbs in my home with energy efficient ones, and do the 3 R's more consciously: recycle, reduce, reuse.

As consumers we are powerful! And by popular demand we can change what products are available to us. However, change is slow and doesn't happen overnight. The key here is first, AWARENESS of the products that harm us without knowing everyday. We buy them blindly without asking because we see them advertised on T.V. . We just assume they are safe to use. It's time to ask and find out about them. Everything-our food, water, household products, diapers, toothpaste, even the furniture we sit on contain chemicals that affect and alter our personal health, as well as our families.

So. I send you this email with a resource to make changes in your home, for better health for you and your family. As I said above, awareness comes first, education comes second, action comes third. My goal is to increase your awareness and educate you of ALTERNATIVES. Nothing more, and of course invite you to join me in this mission in creating a healthier planet by creating healthier homes.
