The Bye
Bye Arms
By Shawn

Some of my clients swear they’ve been
cursed when they reach a certain age or their arms are out of shape to the
point that when they wave good bye to someone, the back of the arm just swings
back and forth, hither and far, to and fro. The facial expression is priceless.
Then comes the questions: what the h*@#! Is that?
Where did it come from? When did that happen? Or the best one, how did this
happen?
What is it? It’s a triceps with a high
percentage of fat around it. Where did it come from? Ask yourself, who is it
attached to? That will tell you where it came from. When did it happen? When
you stopped doing physical activity, or you dropped to a low percentage of
physical activity how did it happen? Let’s just say a lot of r & r and a
high percentage of fatty food being consumed, not a healthy diet. Can it be
cured? Yes. Surgery is only recommended in severe cases of obesity to remove
excess skin. But an excellent exercise program is recommended in all cases.
What are some exercises to assist in curing
this problem? Triceps extensions to the back with a 3 lb or 5
lb dumbbel.
Shoulders should be parallel to the floor, place left hand on the left
knee for balance, the arm should extend back in a hammer
motion, with shoulder stationary and the only movement should be at the elbow.
Three sets of 10 to 15 reps on each arm are sufficient. Another exercise that will help solve this
problem is the triceps dip. The triceps dip is performed by placing hands,
shoulder width on a safe and secure seat or platform. Then assume a sitting
position parallel to the floor. Lower the body in a dipping position. Descend
to a comfortable level while exhaling and complete the movement by ascending to
full extension while inhaling. This represents 1 full repetition. Three sets of
10 to 15 reps should be sufficient.
Have a great month until next time from
