Beverly Murdock
In recent years, Beverly has taken the time to explore her creative side and has begun to write poetry anew. She began writing at the age of 10 and delved in the art sporadically for more than a decade. Her love of poetry was renewed in 1996 as a participant in the Women’s Health Symposium of the National Dental Association. It has become a pleasing challenge to create a poem for the yearly convention. Beverly’s embryonic collection of poetry includes insightful snippets of life, love, challenge, relationships, marriage, loss of loved one’s and more. “Just Because” is a joyful tribute to the life and continued legacy of Beverly ’s mother a true “Mother’s Mother”. The first poem of this series, entitled “The Victory is My Possession”, has been published in “Whispers of the Heart”, copyright 1998 by the Poetry Guild. Beverly has performed poetry as a part of The Melange, sponsored by the Links, Inc. (Raritan Valley Chapter). She was featured as a member of “One Voice Rising” on WRSU, 88.7~ Rutgers University Radio station in the New African Dawn program during Women’s History Month 2003.
On May 7, 2003 Beverly enjoyed a personal best, as she was among three spoken word artists performing on her alma mater radio station WHUR 96.3 FM (home of the original QUIET STORM). On August 23, 3003, she was a participant in the Poetic Print-Cess Productions, 7th Annual Talent Show at George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, NJ , featuring her poem “Deep within His Heart.” On February 8/9, 2004, Ms. Murdock was the lead character, “Ms. Phoebe St. John” in a one act play, “Deep within Your Heart” featuring the poems, “Total Rapture” and “Deep Within His Heart”. This production was held in residence at the George Street Playhouse, New Brunswick, New Jersey. Beverly is grateful for the listening ears of many and encouraging support of the masses.
