Sydney Kamlager

Biography

 

 

Sydney Kamlager has a passion for arts and policy and has been fortunate enough to work in these fields throughout her professional and educational careers. The product of artists, who are also activists, Sydney is a firm believer in achieving social justice through sound policy and artistic endeavors.

 

Ms. Kamlager works full-time as an advocate for a non-profit social justice organization in Los Angeles.  In supporting her need to have her finger on the pulse of our culture, Ms. Kamlager works with other non-profit organizations in an ad-hoc capacity, and teaches a Multiculturalism course at Cal State University, Los Angeles. She also consults for numerous artists and cultural educators.

 

Ms. Kamlager has worked in non-profits for over 8 years. Prior to coming to Crystal Stairs, she served as a Legislative Advocate for a small business association, and served in various managerial capacities at non-profit arts organizations throughout the Los Angeles area. Ms. Kamlager has fundraised, developed teaching curriculum, and developed long-standing art programs.

 

Currently, Ms. Kamlager is working on a documentary on the complexities of interracial marriages and is writing and blogging regularly on the 2008 presidential election and its implications for Americans, the African-American community, white people, the rich, the poor, and beyond.
