Anthony Austin

Born in the South of England in a town called Wokingham; the second son the parents from the little island of Barbados. He attended a private Grammar School "Stoneham" in Reading Berkshire where he graduated and immigrated with his parents to America to attend college where he studied Television and Radio Broadcasting. After securing his degree both from BMCC and Brooklyn College, he started his career as a Freelancer Camera Operator for various production houses throughout the city.

 

Anthony's specialty is in handheld shooting in particularly in the sports and entertainment arena throughout Europe, Caribbean and the US. In addition, he also worked in the NYC school system teaching students and teachers from middle school and high school in incorporating video into the classroom curriculum.

 

In 2001, he formed a company called CANN, "Caribbean American News Network" as the Director which acted as an international news bureau for Caribbean stations, providing them with North American news coverage.

 

In 2003, he took on the Senior DP position for two shows “Que Pasa NY” and “What's the 411”, both shows were successful in their own right, one covering nation events and stars in entertainment and the other in African Americans in the entertainment world. Seeing the benefits of both Anthony created with the help of partner and producer friend John Gill of A&E to created "On the Scene" which combined coverage of both worlds.

 

In 2004, Anthony joined CBS to work in their satellite distribution outlet in Connecticut where he helped co-ordinate feeds for Speedvision, History Channel, NFL.com NBA.com and A&E respectively. At this time he joined forces with the show "Entre NY y Quisqueya" as the international field producer which was seen throughout NY, Boston, Chicago, Miami and the Dominican Republic in Spanish, this was the introduction of "en la escena" fully into the Hispanic world. As the Executive Producer he joined forces with Marta Masferrer to revamp the show to its form now as a bilingual entertainment and cultural show.

 

In addition, Anthony is part of the NYCTV Emmy award winning production team which provides local and international coverage for the city of NY "Mayor Bloomberg' and has created such Emmy winners as "Secrets of NY" "Eat out NY" "$9.99" and "Kela on the Carpet".

 

Anthony's work and talent can be seen daily on various stations throughout the city in this capacity.
