Eric, a native of Rome, Georgia, currently resides in the metropolitan Atlanta area. Eric is not new to the music business. He brings with him a wealth of experience, dating back to the late 60’s, when he began his public performance career as a youth choir vocalist and musician at his family church in Rome. In the early 2000’s, he began his acting career, having been cast to portray the role of “Leon” in the JBU Productions stage play “The Apartment”.
Early
in his life, it became evident that Eric had a deep desire for the
performing arts, and was uniquely gifted to excel in the development of his
craft. Subsequently, as a child, Eric gravitated toward his talent as a
musician. He began to emulate an older brother, who played for their local
church choir,
and eventually became the musician for the youth and adult
choirs. Favoring music, Eric studied music arts throughout middle and high
school; focusing on music theory and performance on several instruments (he
received instruction on percussion/drums, trumpet, saxophone, tuba, and
trombone). Music professors from junior high through high school recognized
Eric as a gifted individual with unlimited potential.
With his brother, Eric joined a local R&B band (The Sons of Aries) and began weekend performances at a variety of night clubs in north-central Georgia and Alabama. During that time, he continued to perform in the high school orchestra, jazz ensemble, and marching bands. He performed as a pianist in high school talent shows and assemblies. As a result, Eric placed first runner-up in voting for Most Talented his senior year.
Joining the Air Force after high school, Eric continued to use his gift as a performer with appearances in a variety of contests and celebrations in the Washington D.C. area. He was recognized by the local chapter of the NAACP in Laurel, Maryland, for his musical contribution to the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration events.
After returning home from military service, Eric and his immediate family launched King Street Records, and indie record label focusing on gospel and contemporary Christian music. Their debut album entitled “NO GREATER LOVE” was co-written and produced by Eric and his brother, with Eric leading the charge as lead instrument and rhythm programmer. The family toured briefly in southern and mid-western states, and maintained a fan base reaching across the nation.
Eric enjoys an active life in the arts. In addition to being a studio engineer in his recording studio (Studio Solid Rock) and minister of music at his Atlanta-based church, he holds a secondary education degree and several certifications in the world of IT. By his side is his wonderful wife Ruby and son Jeremiah. He has practiced Tae Kwon Do martial arts, loves to golf, and is one of three founding principles in the formation of Solid Rock Music Group, Inc. (their debut CD “SOJOURNER” was released in August, 2004).
